How do anti-sweat injection treatments work?
The treatment is a very superficial injection of Botulinum toxin into the skin (rather than into the muscle, which is for treatment of wrinkles). So correct injection technique is important. Using a fine needle, we will inject a minute amount of this muscle relaxant into 10 to 20 pre-marked injection spots where excessive sweating occurs in each armpit.
The Botulinum toxin stops the nerve that interacts with the sweat gland from activating, so the sweat gland never receives the signal to start sweating.
Are hyperhidrosis injection treatments safe?
Yes as long as they are administered by qualified licensed medical professionals as is the case at Medical Injectables. Pregnant women and those breastfeeding are not eligible, and we do not treat patients under 18 years of age.
How long does the treatment last?
