Hair Loss Restoration – PRP & Micrografting Treatments
Most men lose their hair in a typical “androgenic” pattern; the front and the crown, with the back of the head spared. Female hair loss tends to be more diffuse, but is often also in an androgenic pattern, as the hair cells respond to a testosterone analogue called di-hydotestosterone.
Both male and female hair loss patterns can be improved with micrografting, PRP, or a combination of the two. In the micrografting procedure, your doctor will shave a very small section of hair at the back of your head to expose the skin underneath. The area will be anaesthetised with local aesthetic, and 4 small punch biopsies of tissue will be taken. The biopsies are so small that sutures are not typically needed. The biopsies are ground up to be able to pass through a needle, then re-injected into the areas you are suffering from hair loss.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is used to stimulate hair growth and rejuvenate skin, with very few risks or downtime. In a PRP procedure, a small amount of a patient’s blood is drawn out, the red bloods are then removed, and the platelet fraction which is rich in growth factors and nutrients, is re-infused back into the tissue of interest; scalp or skin.

PRP
The procedure can be done in as little as 20 minutes and there is no downtime. Patients can go straight back to work after the procedure is done.
For hair regrowth, typically 3 treatments are needed, 1 month apart, with the most dramatic improvements being seen at 6 months. Results typically last 1 to 2 years before a touch up or booster session is needed.

What is micrografting hair?
Traditionally, micrografting hair involves removing hairs from an area where hair is readily growing and transplanting it to an area of hair loss. For example, you would look at removing hair that’s unaffected by male pattern baldness at the back of the head and “micro grafting” that tiny hair patch where hair is not growing.
At Medical Injectables, we perform cell micrografting. We collect cells from a healthy part of the scalp, which is resistant to testosterone mediated effects in balding individuals, and transplant those cells to the affected areas (typically at the front and crown of the head), which will then cause new hair follicles to grow and develop.
PRP Starter Bundle – 3 Sessions
PRP hair loss treatments are non-surgical medical procedures where plasma (rich in growth factors and nutrients) is separated from a sample of your blood and injected into parts of the scalp experiencing hair loss. Noticeable hair growth can take approximately 4 to 6 weeks with full session results taking place after 3 months. As hair grows in cycles, fuller results can take up to three sessions spaced one month apart.
PRP
You can prolong the effects of PRP treatments (initial treatment benefits may last 6 to 9 months) before requiring a PRP booster shot to prolong the effects for another 6 to 9 month period.
Micrografting
Micrografting hair transplantation is the process of transplanting hair follicles from healthy areas of the scalp resistant to DHT (an androgen derived from testosterone that attacks hair follicles) to areas of hair loss.

How long do PRP injections last?
Age will play a factor. Typically hair regrowth can be effective 6 to 9 months before an additional booster injection is required.
Are PRP hair treatment effects permanent?
PRP hair loss treatments are effective, but they are not permanent. Patients may require touch-up injections at least once a year.
Is micrografting hair a permanent hair loss treatment?
Like any hair follicle, new hair growth resulting from micrografting has a lifespan and may gradually stop producing the same density of hair as the person ages. That said, if we’re dealing with hair loss that is hormone related (as is often the case with male pattern baldness), grafted hair extracted from scalp tissue that is less impacted by these hormones will prove more resistant.
